New Motorola DROID 3 Specs Emerge

Now that Motorola DROID X2 is already official and available for pre-order in the United States via wireless carrier Verizon, all that remains to be seen is when the next DROID device might come out from Motorola Mobility's labs on the airwaves of Big Red, namely the DROID 3.

The smartphone has been long rumored to be on its way to the market at Verizon, following the DROID line, which kicked off with the first such handset from Motorola in late 2009.

The yet unannounced Motorola DROID 3 has made it into the wild before, and new info on its specifications and capabilities have just started to emerge.

Apparently, the same as the DROID X2, the new Motorola DROID 3 would arrive on shelves with a large touchscreen display (of 4-inches in size, or larger) capable of delivering a qHD (960 x 540 pixel) resolution.

Moreover, it would pack a 1GHz processor, which is expected to be a dual-core chip from Texas Instruments, complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 graphical processing unit.

These details leaked courtesy of handset's emergence on the NenaMark website, and have been just confirmed through TechnoBuffalo.

In a recent article, the news site notes that Android-based DROID 3 would indeed arrive on shelves with a four-inch qHD screen, complemented by a five-row QWERTY keyboard.

Moreover, it seems that the smartphone could include an Nvidia dual-core application processor, along with a dedicated HDMI-out port.

On the back, it would sport an 8-megapixel photo snapper with video recording and all, complemented by a front-facing camera meant to enable video calling on the carrier's network.

Verizon customers would enjoy the capabilities of this device only on the carrier's CDMA airwaves, as there will be no LTE support included into the mix (support for 4G would arrive on DROID Bionic, which was delayed indefinitely).

Rumor has it that Verizon would aim at making the Motorola DROID 3 available in June, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.

Acer Iconia Tab A500 Preview

Unveiled earlier this year at the 2011 Mobile World Congress, Acer Iconia Tab A500 has been recently launched on the market. The company is silently pushing its tablets in various parts of the world, which will probably take its toll on the device's sales.

Even though the manufacturer has yet to announce a release schedule for the Iconia Tab A500, it is expected that it will be available worldwide, by the end of the year.

Furthermore, the tablet can be purchased from various major retailers in several countries, but prices may vary by a lot. For example, the 16GB Iconia Tab A500 can be purchased for $450 in the United States via Best Buy, for $615 in India via Future Bazaar, or for no less than $730 in Romania.

However, Acer must face a fierce competition on each market that introduces its Iconia series tablets. Apple iPad 2, Motorola XOOM and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 are among the high-end tablets available in the market for attractive prices in comparison with the Iconia Tab A500.

The 16GB Wi-Fi iPad 2 is now $500, only $50 more expensive than the Iconia Tab A500, while customers who wish to buy the XOOM will have to pay about $600 for the 32GB Wi-Fi only version.

Acer Iconia Tab A500 is one of the lucky tablets to be 'blessed' with NVIDIA's Tegra 2 chipset with dual-core processor. The simple fact that it embeds a powerful dual-core processor manufactured by NVIDIA (yet, not the most powerful) should be enough to convince Android fans to spend a small fortune to acquire it.

HTC Desire S in the UK via All Carriers

HTC Desire S, the direct successor of HTC's last year flagship Desire smartphone, is now available for purchase in the UK via all major wireless carriers in the country.
We already reported on the availability of the device on the shelves at some of the operators in the UK, yet it is now available through all networks, and we should take a look at the available offers for those interested in the matter.

For starters, we should note that the HTC Desire S was made available for free on various monthly contracts through all carriers in the country.

While Three, Orange and T-Mobile would offer the phone for £0 on their £35 per month plans, Vodafone and O2 have it at the same price tag for £30 and £27 per month, respectively.

However, it seems that even more appealing monthly options are available for UK users, with the Desire S free on £25 per month options, if purchased through The Carphone Warehouse.

Users would also have the option to purchase the device on Pay and Go for £329.99 through O2, which seems to be the only wireless carrier to offer it that way.

Those who would like to acquire the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread-based handset without the signing of a contract agreement would find it at The Carphone Warehouse at £394.95.

The new device comes to the market with a unibody design, sports a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, 1.1GB of internal memory, microSD memory card slot for additional storage space, and more.

“Inspired by HTC Legend's aluminium design, the HTC Desire S is sculpted out of a single block of aluminum making it feel solid and natural in your hand,” O2 notes on their website.

“With Qualcomm's new 1GHz 8255 Snapdragon processor, the HTC Desire S offers snappy performance and power while its dual front and back cameras deliver High Definition video.”

Nokia Goes Official with Nokia X7

Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has introduced a new flavor of its Symbian OS, dubbed Symbian Anna, which powers a new, though long rumors handset from the company the Nokia X7.
This is the first entertainment mobile phone in Nokia's lineup to boast a 4-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display (640 x 360 pixels), made of Corning Gorilla Glass, the company notes.

The new mobile phone was meant to offer a great entertainment experience to all users, the company notes, adding that gaming or video playback are only some of the main features of the new device.

“Made from toughened glass and seamless stainless steel, it offers a unique and durable design that will stand out from the crowd,” the company notes.

“Offering all the benefits of the latest Symbian operating system, Symbian Anna, it’s a fast and fluid experience from browsing the web to scrolling through your music collection.”

The mobile phone also comes with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with dual LED flash and 720p video recording capabilities, as well as with a 1200mAH battery that can offer up to 450 hours of standby and 4.5 hours of talktime on 3G.

The new device comes with up to 350MB built-in operating memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, with an 8GB card included into the mix.

The Nokia X7 measures 119.7 x 62.8 x 11.9mm, while being thinner at the edges, and weighing in at 146 grams. The specifications list of this device also includes Pentaband 2G/3G network connectivity, along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

“As you would expect, the Nokia X7 comes with free walk-and-drive navigation through the latest Ovi Maps,” the company continues.

The mobile phone maker also announced that the new Nokia X7 is expected to become available for purchase on the market during the second quarter of the ongoing year, featuring a price tag of €380 taxes and operator subsidies.

Nokia E6 Now Official, Ships in Q2

In addition to the Nokia X7, the Espoo, Finland-based handset vendor Nokia has just announced the upcoming availability of another new Symbian-based mobile phone, the Nokia E6, a candybar phone that sports both a touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard.
This device has been spotted into the wild before, and should be included in the company's business lineup, which doesn't feature a type and touch device as of yet (except maybe for the E7, which is a slider).

“Today we launch the Nokia E6, a compact QWERTY and touch device aimed at business and general users who need to get things done while they’re on the move. Busy emailers rejoice – there’s now a new Symbian business device that you can operate single-handed,” the company announced.

The new handset is expected to offer fast navigation and increased performance levels, especially with the combination of QWERTY and touch experience that it would boast.

On the phone's front, users would enjoy the bright 2.46-inch LCD capacitive touch display that can deliver a 640 by 480 pixels, which was made of Corning Gorilla Glass, along with the physical keyboard for enhanced input options.

The specifications list of the new device would also include a microSD memory card slot with support for MicroSD cards up to 32MB, as well as with a Nokia BP-4L 1500mAh battery inside, which could offer up to one month of standby on 3G.

The handset also comes with Pentaband 2G/3G network capabilities, as well as with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n capabilities, and Bluetooth 3.0, along with stereo headphones support. Nokia E6 measures 115.5 x 59 x 10.5mm and weighing in at 133 grams.

On the back, the mobile phone sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper with dual-LED flash, HD 720p video recording at 25fps, and 2X digital zoom (3X in video mode).

“Like other Symbian phones, the Nokia E6 comes with free global walk and drive navigation through the latest Ovi Maps. It also comes with free push email and IM, providing you have a data plan,” Nokia notes.

"Bundled software includes QuickOffice, World Traveler, JoikuSpot Premium and F-Secure Mobile Security. More apps can be downloaded and installed through Ovi Store.”

The new Nokia E6 should start shipping in Q2, featuring a price tag of €340 before taxes and subsidies. The handset should arrive in North America during the third Quarter of the year.

Nokia 7230 Review

Nokia 7230 is one of those handsets targeting the emerging market, which means it was especially designed as a cheap communication solution. The slider is one of the few handsets that have been destined to run Nokia Life Tools application, depending on the location, of course. What is really worth mentioning about this phone is the fact that it features 3G technology, even though the phone is offered as a mid-budget handset.
Basically, if you're looking for a cheap device and you don't need other fancy features like a good camera, HSDPA connectivity, nice music playback, exquisite design, then Nokia 7230 is the perfect solution. Further, the phone benefits from worldwide...

Android 2.1 for CLIQ and HTC Hero to Land in Mid-March

The latest flavor of Google's Android operating system, Android 2.1, arrived on the market at the beginning of the ongoing year on the Nexus One by HTC, which is sold via Google's own web store, and is now expected to soon become available for more handsets on the market. Among them, we have the HTC Hero and the Motorola CLIQ, both of which are reportedly gearing up to taste the software update sometime in mid-March.

The fact that the Android 2.1 operating system will soon become available for more handsets out there is already known, as Google and various handset vendors said previously that this would happen. However, no exact release dates were provided for none of the involved Android-based mobile phones, and learning that HTC Hero and Motorola CLIQ are so close to receiving the solution should make a lot of users rejoice...

Introducing Vodafone 360 Samsung M1, a New LiMo Handset

The global mobile industry leaders consortium, LiMo Foundation, announced today the launch of Vodafone 360 Samsung M1, the second handset powered by the LiMo Platform Release 2 (R2). The new device is set to provide users with a great deal of capabilities, including the feature-rich, highly customizable Vodafone 360 user interface, fast access to Internet services, and to communications and entertainment features. Samsung T539 Beat Review

Launched exactly two years ago, one of the first handsets from the Beat series, Samsung T539 can now be tagged as a low-budget clamshell. At the time of its release, T539 was set to deliver a rich multimedia experience to its users. The design and features clearly suggest that it targets fans of music phones. Surprisingly, Samsung T539 hasn't been discontinued and can still be bought. Thanks to PureMobile, we will be turning back in time and check out what this music phone has to offer and if it's still a viable solution by these days’ standards.
Announced in October 2007, Samsung T539 Beat was made available on the market in the same month. For the moment, the clamshell can be acquired for only 80 USD, but you might have a hard time finding it.

Blackberry Curve 8900 Review

In a world full of Android, Symbian and Windows Mobile, Blackberry launches quietly yet another of its smartphones with QWERTY keyboard – Blackberry Curve 8900. The device bears the Canadian company's trademark when it comes to design and software embedded. Fans will most likely be happy as the gadget is one of the few outed by RIM last year.

After trying its hand on touchscreen smartphones, RIM continues on the same conservative line and announces a new device, which doesn't really come up with anything new in terms of design or features. Thanks to PureMobile, we had the chance to test the BlackBerry Curve 8900, as usual a business smartphone that offers its users a complete email solution for the right price. Don't expect fresh things, as Blackberry Curve 8900 is just a standard reliable smartphone meant for the mid-budget market.

HTC Tattoo Review

The explosion of Android devices manufactured by almost every well-known brand has been impressive lately. For the moment, HTC holds the supremacy over this market, as it already launched a few successful smartphones and also has its own UI for Android devices.

If the Taiwanese company only launched high-end Android smartphones, this time those that wanted to buy one of these phones and didn't have the required budget will be happy to find that HTC decided to cover this part of the mid-budget smartphone market. The new HTC mid-budget device was first rumored as the HTC Click, but was officially announced as HTC Tattoo. The name comes from the fact that owners will be able to change the back cover with some bearing various sketches.

HTC Tattoo was officially announced in September 2009 and will most likely hit the market one month later, in October 2009. The device is available in four different colors: Brown, White, Graphite and Black. HTC hasn't disclosed any information regarding its price, but stated that its target would be the mid-budget market, which means that we should expect much lower prices than its high-end brothers.

Nokia 6700 classic Review

The new Nokia 6700 handset has been tagged as 'classic' only because of its bar form, but everything else points to an advanced mobile phone with a stylish look. Even though it's just a mid-budget phone and doesn't feature the well-known Symbian OS, Nokia 6700 can be one of the best choices for a businessperson, but only as a 'second phone.'

Sleek and shiny the phone will definitely appeal to all consumer targets that can pay its price. The rightful disciple of the now older Nokia 6300, the new 6700 classic handset strives for the same success on the market.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 Official Photo Emerges

Comes to T-Mobile before year's end
After coming to the market with a series of new devices during the ongoing year, such as the BlackBerry Tour or Curve 8520, Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is moving forth with the release of other handsets before the end of the ongoing year, among which we can count the BlackBerry Bold 9700, also known as Onyx, and we should expect the second BlackBerry Storm.

While the Storm 2 has already gone official and its launch announcement might drop each day, one handset that still has to be unveiled is the BlackBerry Onyx, which has just popped up in an official photo that surfaced on cio along with a series of details. The handset is heading towards T-Mobile USA, and the carrier's logo can be seen clear on the phone's front, and should turn into the first 3G BlackBerry smartphone ever added to its offering.

As stated above, the official photo and details on the device emerged in an article on cio, and its author says that all the information came from a T-Mobile PR. According to the piece, the specs on Onyx that already emerged into the wild are quite accurate, though still unofficial. No official launch date on the phone has been announced, yet it should become available before the end of the year.

Here's what the email received from T-Mobile's PR reportedly stated, “The BlackBerry 'Onyx' sports a premium experience and design with a high-gloss black finish and leather grain detail on the back. Boasting features such as high-speed 3G Web browsing, Wi-Fi calling, visual voicemail and support for corporate and personal e-mail options, the 'Onyx' will satisfy all your on-the-go needs. Also the phone comes preloaded with mobile applications from BlackBerry App World, including Amazon MP3 store for quick and easy music downloads and TeleNav GPS Navigator for turn-by-turn directions.”

As for Onyx’s specs, previous reports showed Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, along with a display that boasts a 480 x 360 resolution, a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, a QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth and BlackBerry OS 5.0 on-board. Stay tuned to learn more details on the BlackBerry Bold 9700, as soon as it becomes official.

Model: Nokia BH-905. Mission: Show all other Bluetooth stereo headsets how it’s done – video and photo gallery by soft2web

GLOBAL – It’s rare for us to get fired up about Bluetooth stereo headsets, but the new Nokia BH-905 is a different beast that has been engineered and crafted into what can only be described as a flagship headphone accessory.
We’ve got hold a great little video that goes behind the scenes of the creation of the new noise-cancelling Nokia BH-905 Bluetooth stereo headset. Click through to watch the full video, and to get the full lowdown on these innovative ear-pleasers.
The upcoming Nokia BH-905 Bluetooth stereo headset isn’t purely designed to be paired with your Bluetooth enabled Nokia device – it’s ambition is far greater, as the BH-905 is keen to adapt and apply its talents to both home and on-the-hop use, with plugs for airplanes, home stereo set-ups (6.3mm jack), computers and other music players (3.5mm jack).
Of course it’s caller-savvy to its core, with two of its 10 microphones dedicated to making crisp voice calls – one mic soaks up your speech whilst the other simultaneously eliminates ambient noise for the listener so your conversations sound much clearer. As for the other eight microphones, these are dotted throughout the headset (see video below) to help create the best possible noise cancellation experience. Jouni Knuuttila, is an Audio Specialist at Nokia and one of the key people working on the creation of the BH-905 Bluetooth stereo headset. See the headphones in action, and hear Jouni and his fellow creators talk about what went into bringing this product to life.
The new Nokia BH-905 Bluetooth stereo headset is set to go on sale this August, and will cost around 285 Euros. Plus, scroll down the page, below the video, to see our full photo gallery of the Nokia BH-905 Bluetooth stereo headset in
detail.

Nokia N85: Milan Salone Coverage by soft2weB

Hailed as a ‘multimedia computer’, the latest offering from the Finnish wunderkinds at Nokia is a rather special mobile phone. With a spec-range to outsell even its fiercest competitors, it was our first choice of travel companion for the annual trawl around Milan’s design-decked streets.

With high-speed connectivity, a 5-mega-pixel camera with ubiquitous Carl Zeiss lens and DVD-quality film capability - we were expecting something clunkier than the super-light, super-sleek black beauty that slid so neatly into our pockets.
Two-way sliding, sensitive horizontal flip screen and specific zoom and gaming keys make this the most user-friendly Nokia interface we've come across to date.
Our favourite feature however is without a doubt the integrated GPS facility, which at the touch of the button allows us to navigate our way seamlessly around the globe (and, perhaps more importantly, the Zona Tortona).

Nokia Messaging Available in Italy

Wireless carrier Telecom Italia and Espoo, Finland-based phone maker Nokia announced today that the easy-to-use messaging service Nokia Messaging would come to mobile phone users in Italy starting with mid-September. Telecom Italia subscribers will be able to enjoy the Nokia Messaging push email service, along with new offers for sending and receiving emails directly from their handsets.
"With this service, Nokia and Telecom Italia join forces to drive mobile messaging adoption for their customers using Nokia solutions and Telecom Italia special data plans. We are glad to satisfy the growing consumer demand to access email accounts directly from the device whenever they want, wherever they are. The objective is to bring mobile email to everyone and make it easily accessible to the largest number of users possible," said Alessandro Mondini Branzi, General Manager, Nokia Italia.

Nokia Messaging is a service that enables users mobilize multiple emails in a simple manner. At the same time, it also comes with push technology that ensures the messages are sent automatically to the user's phone. Up to ten personal email accounts can be set up on a single device, and the service features support for Gmail, Yahoo!Mail, and Windows Live Hotmail, as well as for other email accounts, including alice.it, TIN.it, or virgilio.it.

TIM customers will have the opportunity to choose a new MAXXI Mail offering, which delivers them 1GB of storage a month. The possibility to check one’s email while on the road comes at only EUR 4 per month including VAT. Telecom Italia announced new offers for business customers as well, starting with the daily usage option that costs EUR 1 a day, and going all the way to monthly-subscription options.

The service can be enjoyed in Italy on a number of 30 Nokia Symbian devices, the duo announced, and the list includes the Nokia E75, Nokia E55, Nokia N97, Nokia E71 and Nokia N95 8GB, along with other popular handsets. All that users will have to do is to enter their email and password on their phone, and the emails will be pushed to the handsets. More details on the service can be found here.
